A morning preschool class at the Long Hill School in Shelton was treated Monday to a reading of two books by the late children’s author Dr. Seuss by state Representative Jason Perillo, who attended the school as a youngster from 1981 to 1988.

Federal stimulus grants approved this week by Governor Rell’s Connecticut Recovery Working Group will enhance public transportation in Shelton and elsewhere in the region and encourage wider use of Greater Bridgeport Transit buses and Metro North commuter trains, state Representative Jason Perillo, and state Senator Dan Debicella said Wednesday, March 25th.

Perillo Drives School Fire Safety Legislation

Representative Perillo, Ranking Member of the legislature’s Public Safety and Security Committee has authored legislation that will require local fire marshals to submit their inspection reports of schools to the local Board of Education. Perillo says the bill, which was passed out of the Public Safety and Security Committee on March 5th, will keep both local marshals and Boards of Education accountable for school fire safety. The bill comes on the heels of a fire at Shelton High School and resulting questions about inspections at the school.
